American Wood Council President and CEO Robert Glowinski has issued the following statement regarding the Department of Energy’s (DOE) final rule recently released. The rule establishes criteria for the use of green building certifications systems by federal agencies.
“AWC appreciates the neutral approach DOE has taken toward green building certification systems in this rule. It establishes objective criteria that certification systems used by federal agencies must meet. The rule will promote competition among existing green codes, standards and rating systems, leading to improvements that benefit all system users, including federal agencies.
“Wood buildings are constructed using low-embodied energy wood products, providing superior and cost-effective thermal energy performance, all of which are key elements in green building rating systems.”
