CPA Spring Meeting will commence on May 31

cpa-logoThe seminar at CPA Spring Meeting will commence on May 31 in Bonita Spring, Florida and will conclude on June 3. Renewed speakers from various backgrounds will feature at the educational program and will offer their valued expertise to the composite panel industry.

 
Program highlights include:
Monday’s opening General Session will feature brief remarks and an introduction of new members by CPA Chairman Grady Mulbery of Roseburg Forest Products. Dr. Bill Conerly, principal of Conerly Consulting LLC will give the keynote presentation titled, The Economic Outlook for Building Materials: New Opportunities and Risks in the Evolving Business Cycle. Dr. Conerly is an economist, author, and consultant with over 30 years of expertise helping companies connect the dots between the economy and business decisions.

 
The session will be followed by the Decorative Surfaces Council meeting that will include a presentation on current surface material specification trends by Dennis McGrath, Senior Associate and Design Director for the Lawrence Group.

 
The Membership Lunch will include a presentation by John Spence, an international speaker, executive trainer, business consultant and author. His dynamic presentation will address the latest trends and concepts for building and sustaining a highly successful organization. He has presented to more than 400 organizations worldwide, including many of the Fortune 50, on leadership, teamwork, business excellence, strategic thinking, corporate culture and customer service.

 
On Monday afternoon, the Production-Technical Committee meeting will feature a presentation by Chris Hader of Plum Creek MDF on Mill Fire Safety. A second presentation by Vicki Worden, Executive Director of the Green Building Initiative will cover green certification and Green Globes.

 
The General Session on Tuesday will focus on the carbon neutrality of biomass from multiple perspectives. The panel discussion will be moderated by Jake Elston of Arauco North America. Dr. Jim Bowyer, Professor Emeritus, University of Minnesota will open the discussion with an overview of the Science of Biogenic Carbon. Dave Tenny, President/CEO of the National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO); Pete Madden, President/CEO of Drax Biomass; and Laszlo Dory, President of the European Panel Federation (EPF), will share their insights on the economics and impacts of designating biomass as carbon neutral
