Huttig Building Products appoints new General Manager

huttig-corporateHuttig Building Products, Inc. (“Huttig”) (NASDAQ: HBP) announced Matt Thompson accepted the Huttig Columbus General Manager position.

 

“I am extremely excited to have Matt join the Huttig team. His customer-centric attitude and industry knowledge will be a huge asset to our customers,” said Robert Pearce, Regional Vice President for Huttig.

 

Matt comes to Huttig with more than 20 years of sales and leadership experience within the building materials industry. Previously, Matt worked as a VP and as a GM in the Columbus market for five years with Palmer Donavin/Seal-Rite Door. While there, he was responsible for growing sales, strategic planning, controlling purchasing, improving production departments and managing 250 employees. He oversaw the relationships with Home Depot, Lowes, 84 Lumber, Window World, and others.

 

Career highlights include receiving “Employee Culture Change Award” for transforming struggling division with a high turnover rate into an organization with 50% sales increase and low turnover.

 

Matt also won the “Best New Business Award” from the local chamber for growing a struggling hardware dealer from $100,000 to $1.1 million in just one year.
