The Austrian laminate flooring and panel producer Kronospan made an entrance to the American Flooring market through acquisition of Clarion Boards Inc. and Clarion Laminates LLC. According to Clarion Industries, its enterprise is the only fully integrated laminate flooring operation in North America that produces MDF, high-density fiberboard panels, and laminate flooring at the same site.
According to the official website of Clarion Industries, Clarion Laminates’ annual flooring capacity comes up to 240 million square feet, while Clarion Boards has an annual production capacity of 140,000 MCF, with one MCF equal to 1,000 square feet at 3/4-inch thickness.
Kronospan’s Alabama site produces MDF and HDF for laminate flooring, furniture, store fixtures, mouldings, doors and other architectural applications. Kronospan, the Austrian panel producer company, said “the acquisition is a strategic first step into the North American laminate flooring market” and will complement the flooring products produced at its European facilities.
