MEM Industrial witnessed a record breaking participation

MEM Industrial which concluded on January 24, was a huge crowd puller this year. With the new partnership, the exhibitors were happy to experience a record breaking participation of over 7000 buyers from Mexico and abroad and generated more than 400 million pesos in on-site business, according to its director Azul Ogazón. This edition of MEM Industrial created fertile environment for Latin American woodworking business. Awards and accolades further stimulated business in the sector.

 

The event, which took place on January 22-24 at Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City, featured 130 companies and 200 brands from nine countries, whose stands took up over 14,000 square meters of exhibition space. The most complete expo of its kind, MEM Industrial 2020 represented the sector’s entire supply chain, from the forestry industry to the applications of Industry 4.0 technology to woodworking and furniture manufacturing.

 

The highlights of the 2020 edition of MEM Industrial and its new partnership with Tecnomueble was announced by Christian Pfeiffer, Global Director of Woodworking Events at Deutsche Messe; Carlos Cook, Vice-president of the Mexican Association of Suppliers of the Woodworking and Furniture Industry (AMPIMM); Abelardo Arreola Jiménez, President of the Jalisco Association of Furniture Manufacturers (AFAMJAL); Palmira Arnaz, Mexico City Coordinator of the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR); Manuel Pérez Cárdenas, Head of the Office of the Presidency of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers (CONCAMIN); Congresswoman Martha Olivia García Vidaña, Secretary of the Commission for the Environment, Sustainability, Climate Change and Natural Resources; Edgar Conzuelo Contreras, CEO of Protectora de Bosques, Estado de México; Marco Ruíz Ruíz, Vice-president of the National Woodworking Industry Chamber (CANAINMA); Héctor Silver, CEO of Mahexa Forestal; and Bernd Rohde, CEO of Hannover Fairs México.

 

Christian Pfeiffer said that “MEM Industrial is the leading platform in Latin America for woodworking technology, including inputs and accessories for the furniture industry”, while Bernd Rohde took the opportunity to announce the recent partnership between MEM Industrial and TecnoMueble Internacional, which is affiliated to AFAMJAL. “This new partnership with AFAMJAL and MEM Industrial’s other partnerships with top international organizations in the sector, like the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (Eumabois), its German counterpart VDMA, AMPIMM, CONAFOR, the civil society organization Reforestamos and CANAINMA, have consolidated MEM Industrial as the flagship tradeshow for the supply of machinery, equipment, materials and inputs for the woodworking and furniture industry in Mexico,” said Rohde.

 

To shore up the main themes of this year’s edition of MEM Industrial, a free program of some 20 conferences, workshops and seminars was organized to promote sustainability and innovation in surface technologies, and help close the gap between design and industry.

 

Companies like Stiles machinery, Hettich, or SCM Mexico shared excitement and stated the importance of Magna festival in the woodworking business. Industry leaders further added their reasons for utilizing this platform for improving business and building relations. According to the General Manager SCM, Marco Pedronici, “The Mexican market is a market with a growing population 120 million people and this is market which is becoming more and more important because here the customers- the producers of furniture are investing more and more in technology. The world is changing and is demanding new machines, demanding new technology and service per person. They are asking for a good solution,”, this gave impetus to business and makers are focusing on introducing new machines while bringing solutions to woodworking activities.

 

Stiles machinery further added that MEM Industrial offers the largest and most typical range of machines, tools, equipment, materials, locks, supplies and accessories and gathers thousands of professional buyers in search of product processing solutions. MEM Industrial is organized by Deutsche Messe with the support of the Mexican Association of Vendors from the Wood and Furniture Industries.

 

MEM Industrial 2020 also served as a platform for three award ceremonies encouraging new talents in the woodworking sector. With a grand celebration, the show ended creating feryile environment for new business and the wait for the next edition begins.
