Grecon introduces new DML 6000 with Carbon Frame

Last week GreCon had introduced the Laser Thickness Gauge DML 6000 with carbon frame at the IWF 2016 fair in Atlanta (USA).
Carbon is a composite, the thermal expansion coefficient of which is considerably lower than that of steel. The resulting lower thermal expansion allows precise measuring values even in case of permanent and uncontrolled temperature changes.


Horizontal as well as vertical changes in length are substantially lower with carbon frames than with the usual frames. Therefore the time period between calibrations can be significantly prolonged without affecting the quality of the measuring values.


Thanks to this additional frame option, the GreCon Laser Thickness Gauge DML 6000 can be even better adapted to the production conditions and customer-specific quality requirements. Due to its static balance, the GreCon frame concept stands for a maximum degree of precision – both with carbon and high-tensile steel frame.


Besides the selection of the appropriate frame concept, the selection and arrangement of the sensors also determines the significance of the measured values. Depending on the requirements, measurement can be conducted in a stationary mode or traversing across the material width. With traversing measurements across the panel width, the DML 6000 measures the cross profile of the panel from edge to edge.


The DML 6000 is equipped with a calibration system. Calibration is done below the production level and sees to a permanent verification of the measuring capability of the thickness gauge.
The laser thickness gauge works in a non-contact way. Therefore the Laser Thickness Gauge DML 6000 can also be used to measure materials with low raw density.


The DML 6000 can be integrated in process control systems via OPC or other field bus systems.
