The International Mass Timber Conference (IMTC) has announced a high-stakes addition to its 2026 programming: “The Boardroom: From Pitch to Capital.” This new keynote session is specifically designed to bridge the gap between visionary real estate developers and the institutional capital necessary to scale mass timber construction globally. The session is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. As the industry faces a critical need for financial backing to meet climate and housing demands, “The Boardroom” will serve as a live marketplace for sustainable development deals.
Mass timber—utilizing engineered wood like Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glulam—is praised for its carbon-sequestering properties and construction efficiency. However, securing traditional financing can remain a hurdle for developers.
“Mass timber is reaching a pivotal moment, and capital engagement is critical to scaling,” said Craig Rawlings, Chairman of the International Mass Timber Conference. “This forum brings the right stakeholders together to move promising projects from concept to closing.”
The session will feature a curated selection of mass timber projects, ranging from multifamily residential and mixed-use developments to innovative industrial concepts. Selected developers will deliver focused, 15-minute “pitches” to a panel of seasoned investors.
Following each presentation, the investor panel will provide constructive critiques and Q&A, offering the audience rare insight into:
The forum will be moderated by Erica Spiritos, a recognized leader in the mass timber space. The investor panel features heavyweights from the real estate and finance sectors, including:
Supporting the forum is Investment Forum Advisor Jeff Spiritos, Principal of Spiritos Properties, who emphasizes that investor evaluation of timber is evolving rapidly.
Developers interested in presenting their projects must submit non-proprietary proposals by Friday, January 23, 2026. Selected participants will not only present on stage but will also receive exclusive networking opportunities with capital sources throughout the three-day conference.
Now in its 10th year, the IMTC is the world’s largest gathering of mass timber experts. Held annually in Portland, Oregon, the event attracts over 3,000 professionals from the forestry, manufacturing, design, and construction sectors to explore the future of the global wood supply chain.
