The regional woodworking landscape is shifting, and its center of gravity just stabilized right here in Colombia. The recently concluded interzum bogota 2026 has officially wrapped up its third edition under the globally renowned interzum banner. Held at Corferias, this marks the 17th time the event has brought the industry together—originally starting its life as La Feria Mueble y Madera—but this year felt distinctly different.

This wasn’t just a local gathering. It was a clear, calculated step onto the global stage.

With nearly 11,000 professional trade visitors, close to 200 exhibiting companies representing 19 countries, and a packed itinerary of over 60 content sessions, the event proved that the Latin American sector is ready for a serious upgrade in technology, materials, and design.

A New Breed of Visitor

If there was one unifying takeaway among exhibitors this year, it was the sheer caliber of the crowd. This edition wasn’t about packed aisles for the sake of numbers. It was about the right people asking the right questions. Industry players reported a noticeable upgrade in the attendee profile—more decision-makers, specifiers, and serious buyers looking to build concrete supply lines.

“We were positively surprised by how the trade fair works as a strategic access point to Central and Latin American markets,” noted Joaquín Verdú Hernández, Sales Director at Spain’s Verdú. “We had conversations with visitors from countries such as Panama, Guatemala, and Costa Rica, which confirms interzum bogota as a relevant meeting point for the industry.”

For international powerhouses and local giants alike, the fairground was a showcase of major solutions. Global heavyweights like Kronospan, Hettich, and Biesse rubbed shoulders with premium Colombian brands like Pelikano and Primadera. Together, they mapped out the immediate future of space design, automated machinery, and interior construction.

The $3 Million Handshake

The commercial reality of the fair was underscored by the highly successful Business Matchmaking program. Backed by ProColombia, the initiative brought 50 high-profile international buyers face-to-face with 70 eager exhibitors over an intense two-day period.

The numbers speak to the high commercial affinity of this year’s crowd:

  • 378 formal business meetings successfully conducted.
  • 10 countries represented among the core buying delegations.
  • Over USD $3 million in projected business expectations generated for the next 12 months.

Hernán Osorio, Sales Manager LATAM at Hettich, emphasized the immediate impact: “The growth compared to the previous edition has been very noticeable. The fair allowed us to close business during the event and connect with highly relevant profiles for our market.”

Roots of the Future: Innovation Meets Eco-Credentials

Beyond the transactional hum of the exhibition floors, interzum bogota 2026 expanded its intellectual footprint. Under the thematic umbrella “Roots of the Future,” a series of targeted segments kept attendees engaged. The Creative & Innovation HUB hosted active workshops on specialized production skills, while the Wood Talks forum turned the spotlight onto forest legality and regional competitiveness.

Crucially, the show walked the talk on sustainability. Organizers took the practical step of measuring and mitigating the trade fair’s actual carbon footprint on the ground, collaborating directly with Community Forests and WWF. This included showcasing 23 community forestry initiatives to directly champion legal timber trade and ethical sourcing.

As Ana Garibello, Project Manager at Corferias, aptly put it, the event successfully connected real regional needs with top-tier international suppliers. By carving out its own distinct voice within the broader interzum family, Bogotá has successfully positioned itself as the gateway for Latin America’s modern furniture production chain.

The industry now turns its sights forward. The next edition of interzum bogota is officially slated to return to Corferias from May 9 to 12, 2028. If this year was any indication, the next two years of development in the region are going to be worth watching closely.
