USNR

USNR, a leading provider of advanced wood-processing technology, is partnering with Chile-based Maderas Arauco to significantly upgrade their OSB press system at the Cholguan facility. The extensive modernization involves converting an existing Washington Iron Works MDF press into a state-of-the-art OSB (Oriented Strand Board) press, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing energy consumption.

This innovative upgrade includes several critical improvements, such as the installation of a modernized loader system, comprehensive hydraulic system upgrades, and new robust simultaneous closing arms. Moreover, the integration of a high-capacity filtration system into the hydraulic reservoir aims to extend equipment life and reduce maintenance downtime significantly.

USNR’s advanced hydraulic systems are renowned for enabling precise proportional control throughout the pressing cycle, markedly improving the quality and consistency of OSB production. According to recent industry research published by Forest Economic Advisors (FEA), facilities upgrading to more efficient presses can achieve up to 15% improvement in productivity and substantially lower operational costs.

The hydraulic system provided by USNR incorporates advanced proportional pumps and valves, enhanced reservoir designs, and electronic control mechanisms, simplifying servicing and maintenance tasks. This modern design significantly reduces complexity and downtime compared to traditional hydraulic press systems.

Industry insights from Wood Markets Group indicate that companies adopting such upgrades experience notable improvements in press performance, operational stability, and energy efficiency. This aligns with global industry trends focused on sustainable manufacturing practices and energy reduction.

The upgrade offers Maderas Arauco enhanced mechanical components designed to outperform the original Washington Iron Works press. Additional benefits include reduced maintenance demands, improved operational reliability, and substantial energy savings, thus directly contributing to the company’s sustainability goals.

Maderas Arauco’s commitment to sustainability and efficiency is further emphasized by this collaboration with USNR. Through this strategic investment, the company aims to solidify its competitive position in the global OSB market, providing high-quality products while maintaining eco-friendly practices.

USNR has expressed pride in collaborating on this ambitious and impactful project, which showcases the potential of technological innovation in the forestry industry to drive sustainable growth and enhance production capabilities.
