Vollmer to organise a training course in September

 Wednesday, July 31, 2019

The Grinding Doc comes to Germany. From September 11 to 13, 2019 Grinding Doc Dr. Jeffrey Badger will give a training course in Biberach at the sharpening specialist VOLLMER. The topic is carbide grinding of tools. Course participants also receive the book “The Book of Grinding” and a software package for tool machining.

“When I come to tool manufacturers, then it’s like being with a ‘real’ doctor in the surgery – it can also be painful”, says Grinding Doc Dr. Jeffrey Badger. “I not only examine grinding processes in tool manufacturing, but also check the strategy and efficiency of companies, which can sometimes be painful.” Jeffrey concluded.

Tool manufacturers who want to carefully examine their efficiency in the area of tool grinding can do this with the Grinding Doc Jeffrey Badger from 11 to 13 September 2019 in Biberach in Swabia. In advance of the metalworking trade fair EMO 2019, the American from Austin (Texas) is a guest at VOLLMER, the specialist for grinding and eroding machines. The three-day course deals in particular with the grinding of carbide tools.

Tool manufacturers can not only improve grinding processes and eliminate production errors thanks to the scientific approach of the Grinding Doc, but also reduce costs. Whoever takes part in the training course also receives the electronic book “The Book of Grinding” by Jeffrey Badger – in the 4000-page piece of work he perpetuates his grinding knowledge of 20 years.

The practical part of the training course takes place on the VOLLMER grinding machine VGrind 360, which is used to machine carbide tools such as milling cutters, drills or reamers. Thanks to its two vertically arranged spindles, the machine enables efficient multi-level machining, meaning that large numbers of rotary tools can be manufactured quickly and precisely.

There is an early-bird discount for registrations received before 25 August 2019. The number of participants is limited. The event will be conducted in English, but will be simultaneously interpreted into German. Participants also receive a copy of the electronic book “The Book of Grinding”, as well as the software “The Grinder’s Toolbox”, in order to calculate optimal grinding, dressing and cooling parameters.
