At the Spring 2025 International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, NC, this month, the AkzoNobel team will present the latest color trends and coating innovations. Gain insights into upcoming styles and technologies shaping the furniture industry. During the High Point Market from April 26-30, AkzoNobel experts will reveal trends shaping home furnishing colors and designs for 2025 with input from the Global Color and Design team collaborating with furniture designers and architects.

AkzoNobel will demonstrate how their coatings technology helps furniture makers create new effects, improve durability, and meet sustainability demands. “Color does more than enhance our furnishings; it shapes our emotional response to our living spaces,” elucidates Bryan Hodges, Color and Design Manager, Wood Finishes, AkzoNobel. “By sharing our extensive research on colors, textures, and finishes, we help our customers create products that resonate with consumers who are seeking to express their unique identities through their home environments.”- he further added.

The market’s highlight is AkzoNobel’s Color of the Year 2025, True Joy™, a sunny yellow shade evoking optimism and vibrant energy, resonating with consumers seeking joy, craftsmanship, and self-expression. “In this rapidly changing world, the True Joy™ Color of the Year 2025 offers a perfect counterbalance to uncertainty,” expresses Heleen van Gent, Creative Director of The AkzoNobel Global Aesthetic Center. He continues, “With our Color of the Year and ColorFutures™ 2025 palettes, we’re inviting designers and manufacturers to help consumers celebrate their roots and creativity while embracing the optimism of moving forward.”

AkzoNobel crafted three color palettes from adventure, creativity, and identity for furniture and building applications.

Bold – Encouraging an adventurous color story with uplifting combinations to push comfort zones.

Human – A unique, craft-focused color scheme for the home.

Proud – A bold color narrative for consumers to express individuality through unique spaces.

Market attendees can observe colors on different wood surfaces, showcasing techniques that alter furniture appearance and feel. “The Color of the Year 2025 and its complementary palettes provide an essential resource for manufacturers looking to differentiate their projects with on-trend wood coatings,” outlines Hodges. He also added, “For consumers, these palettes make it easier to select colors and combinations that reflect current preferences while maintaining a timeless appeal.”
