Armen Living-acquisition

California-based full-line home furnishings company Armen Living has announced the acquisition of Uwharrie Chair Company, a North Carolina manufacturer known for its customizable, Made in America outdoor furniture. The acquisition further strengthens Armen Living’s growing outdoor division while preserving Uwharrie Chair’s distinct brand identity, manufacturing operations, and leadership team.

Under the terms of the acquisition, Uwharrie Chair will continue to operate as an independent brand within the Armen Living portfolio, maintaining its own website and product positioning. All current employees will remain with the company, including owner Erica Lloyd, ensuring continuity in operations, craftsmanship, and customer relationships.

Kevin Kevonian, owner, president, and CEO of Armen Living, said the acquisition reflects a shared vision centered on craftsmanship, design innovation, and long-term growth.

Kevonian noted that the partnership is expected to open new possibilities for Uwharrie Chair by providing additional resources, expanded operational support, and broader market access. He emphasized that the goal is to preserve the brand’s legacy of producing high-quality outdoor furniture that resonates with retailers, designers, and trade buyers nationwide, while positioning it for its next phase of growth.

The acquisition highlights a broader trend in the furniture and home furnishings industry, where established companies are investing in brands with strong domestic manufacturing stories and customizable product offerings to meet evolving consumer demand.

Armen Living entered the outdoor furniture category approximately five years ago and has since expanded the segment with a steady stream of new product introductions. The company has also invested in increased visibility for its outdoor collections, including the opening of a dedicated showroom at Casual Market Atlanta.

Uwharrie Chair’s focus on customizable outdoor furnishings complements Armen Living’s design-driven approach. Uwharrie specializes in products crafted from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and kiln-dried, pressure-treated southern yellow pine, all manufactured in North Carolina. These materials are valued for their durability, weather resistance, and suitability for residential and commercial outdoor environments.

By adding Uwharrie Chair to its portfolio, Armen Living broadens its assortment to include handcrafted outdoor seating and accent pieces that emphasize traditional craftsmanship alongside modern materials.

Erica Lloyd, owner of Uwharrie Chair Company, said the acquisition provides opportunities for growth that would have been difficult to achieve independently while preserving the company’s core values.

Lloyd emphasized that Uwharrie Chair has always prioritized craftsmanship, durability, and strong customer relationships. She expressed confidence that Armen Living is the right partner to carry the brand forward, citing the company’s scale, operational expertise, and shared commitment to product integrity.

According to Lloyd, the transition positions Uwharrie Chair for meaningful growth without sacrificing the authenticity and attention to detail that define the brand. Her continued involvement ensures that Uwharrie Chair’s culture and manufacturing standards remain central to its future direction.

Armen Living plans to showcase Uwharrie Chair Company’s outdoor furniture line at major winter markets in early 2026. The collection will debut at the Atlanta Winter Market, taking place January 12–19, in showroom B1-6-A2. The brand will also be featured at Las Vegas Market from January 25–29 in showroom B-7-B762.

Presenting Uwharrie Chair alongside Armen Living’s existing outdoor collections will allow buyers to explore a wider range of styles, materials, and customization options within a single showroom environment. Retailers, designers, and trade professionals will have the opportunity to evaluate how the two brands complement each other across different outdoor living applications.

As consumer investment in outdoor living spaces continues to influence purchasing decisions, the acquisition underscores Armen Living’s commitment to the outdoor category. By combining Uwharrie Chair’s Made in America manufacturing and customizable designs with Armen Living’s national reach and marketing capabilities, the partnership strengthens both brands’ competitive positions.

For the broader furniture and home furnishings industry, the acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation paired with a renewed focus on heritage manufacturing, quality materials, and brand authenticity. With operations continuing in North Carolina and expanded exposure at key markets, Uwharrie Chair Company enters its next chapter, positioned for sustainable growth within an evolving outdoor furniture landscape.
