Armstrong® World Industries has introduced a new material optimization analysis as a standard feature of its complimentary ProjectWorks® Design Service for architects and designers. This innovative addition uses Armstrong’s automated design software to assess ceiling layouts, highlighting areas where scrap produced by cut perimeter ceiling panels can be reused. By providing this detailed analysis, Armstrong empowers architects and designers to improve project efficiency, reduce waste, cut costs, and elevate the sustainability value for clients.
The material optimization analysis, specifically designed for architects and designers, complements the existing ProjectWorks report for contractors. Armstrong has updated this report to align with the new analysis offered to architects. Nick Friez, Manager of Digitalization at ProjectWorks, emphasized, “It’s a lightbulb moment when architects realize they can save 10 to 15 percent or more in material costs. This is a significant opportunity for architects to tell the sustainability story of their project, while contractors can enjoy cost savings.”
The new tool can be used for all standard Armstrong ceiling panel materials, including mineral fiber, fiberglass, metal, wood, and wood fiber. It is part of a comprehensive set of ProjectWorks deliverables, which include detailed layouts, finish schedules, material budgets, and 3D Revit® models, all designed to enhance project efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, the material optimization analysis can contribute toward green building credits and certifications.
Armstrong’s fine-tuned algorithms ensure the accuracy of the material optimization analysis. These algorithms have been developed through feedback from thousands of projects, making the software capable of identifying areas where scrap can be reused without compromising design integrity. The software considers factors like panel directionality, wood grain, and edge detail to ensure optimal reuse.
With professional CAD specialists overseeing the analysis, Armstrong ensures feasibility and confidence in every project, making it easier for architects, designers, and contractors to streamline their processes and meet project goals efficiently.
