AWC welcomes new Regional Director

 Friday, August 26, 2022

American Wood Council (AWC) has announced that David Tyree will be the new South Central Regional Director. Dave has begun in AWC as West Coast Regional Manager and then as South Central Regional Manager with responsibility in states for the region. This included Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah. He will work in the same region in the new position.

AWC President and CEO Jackson Morrill has praised the decision hugely. According to his words, “In his 26 years with AWC, Dave has done exceptional work in model code development with service to the building code community and the wood industry. His promotion recognizes his leadership and contribution to AWC’s reputation as a trusted resource on building code requirements for wood construction. Dave continues to build on AWC’s already strong reputations towards ensuring wood products are properly recognized in ongoing building codes and standards development,”

He was worked in several roles. Some of these include important roles in International Building Code Structural Committee, International Residential Code Building Committee and one term on the International Code Council’s Life Safety Committee. He has also played leadership role in AWC Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) task group.

Dave is also a former recipient of the John Fies Industry Award from the International Conference of Building Officials. He has also worked for the Colorado Chapter ICC Beryl Wallace Award. This is given for contributing service and dedication to the code development process, education, and goals of the Colorado Chapter of the International Code Council.

AWC is a nationally recognised technical authority company that advocates for sustainable wood building products. The company also works with codes, standards, legislatives, regulatory and climate policy arenas. They partner with development of sound policies, codes and regulations that allow for the appropriate and responsible manufacturing. The company holds a significant importance for environment friendliness in their internal policy.
