AWFS recently joined the ranks of organizations and celebrated the Manufacturing Day. It is a special day usually celebrated on first Friday in October, in a nationwide event that aims to showcase the vital role manufacturing plays in the American Economy while inspiring the next generation of skilled workers. The AWFS Fair this year celebrated the day by hosting a special event that underscored the significance of woodworking and manufacturing in our modern world.

The event served as a dynamic platform where craftsmanship, innovation, and future generations meet. Students from Oceanside, CA had the opportunity to explore the latest woodworking tools, machinery, and technologies, hosted by Drawer Box Specialties (DBS) in Orange, CA. DBS is a custom cabinet maker, furniture manufacturer, commercial casework market and specialty markets with boxes of all shapes, sizes and materials. Through the vivid demonstration of the potential career paths within our industry, we have the power to redefine and reshape the opportunities our field can provide to the younger generations.

This showed the precision and skill that is required in woodworking and manufacturing. Experts and industry leaders shared their knowledge while leaving the students insipred with sparking interest in these trades.

By aligning itself with Manufacturing Day, AWFS contributed to the broader mission of highlighting the importance of manufacturing and craftsmanship. It reaffirmed that woodworking is not just an age-old craft but a dynamic, forward-looking sector that drives innovation, job creation, and economic growth.

Manufacturing day is a critical event that dispels misconceptions, inspired the future workforce, and celebrates innovations in the manufacturing sector.
