Boise-Cascade

Boise Cascade’s Building Materials Distribution (BMD) division recently announced the expansion of its distribution capacity in two regions. This strategic investment plan is expected to help them “to expand in engineered wood products, leading brands of general line building materials, as well as lumber and panels products.” The company completed the purchase of 45 acres in Walterboro, South Carolina, for the construction of a new distribution center. The location, which is about 45 miles west of Charleston, will house Boise Cascade’s first distribution facility in the state. The location will provide improved service for clients in Savannah, Georgia, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Columbia, South Carolina. Currently, the BMD division provides these markets with service from its locations in Greensboro, NC, and Atlanta, GA.

To help in expansion of engineered wood products, lumber and panel products

Another new distribution facility will be built on a 34-acre land tract that the company just closed on in Hondo, Texas. This location, which is situated about 40 miles west of San Antonio, Texas, will join the company’s two door shops in Houston and Dallas as the third distribution centre for Boise Cascade in the state. The site will assist in serving clients in Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and the Rio Grande Valley since it is rail-served.

These investments are in line with the company strategy and exemplify Boise Cascade’s commitment to their supplying partners in multiple high-growth markets, remarks Jeff Strom, BMD Executive Vice President. He also expressed his exuberance on being able to design further versatile product range for their diversified customer base, catering to their needs. This will further contribute in proliferating in their engineered wood products array, top brands of general line building materials and lumber and panel products too.

Jim Wickham, Vice President of Eastern Operations commented, “We are very excited to expand our footprint into these markets. This will help us grow in these geographies and also provide deeper penetration in the local market for the facilities that are currently serving these areas, allowing us to be closer to our customers.”
