C.R. Onsrud showcases advanced CNC innovations at Demo Day 2026 in North Carolina

C.R. Onsrud opened its doors on March 25, 2026, for its Demo Day event at its facility in Troutman, North Carolina. The event brought together more than 200 participants from across the CNC and manufacturing sectors. Attendees included equipment vendors, experienced CNC operators, and individuals new to the technology. The gathering reflected a strong cross-section of the industry. It also highlighted the company’s focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing.

More than a dozen live demonstrations were conducted throughout the event. These sessions provided attendees with direct exposure to CNC machining processes. A wide variety of materials was used. Different processing techniques were applied. Multiple machine platforms were showcased. The demonstrations were designed to address a broad audience. Both experienced professionals and beginners were engaged.

According to Jeff Onsrud, Director of Sales and Business Development, the company aimed to present a diverse set of applications. This approach ensured that all attendees could gain practical insights. Short sessions were delivered. Each demonstration remained focused. Technical capabilities were clearly explained.

The A-Series machine, the latest addition to the company’s portfolio, was a key highlight. It was used to produce MDF 3D wall panels. Aluminum gears were also manufactured. PVC sign letters were created during the demonstrations. These applications demonstrated the machine’s flexibility. They also showed its ability to handle varied materials efficiently.

Other machines were also featured prominently. The M-Series was used to produce a phenolic tool bench organizer and linear profile extrusion components. The T-Series demonstrated the manufacturing of a melamine cabinet nest. The RH-Series was used to create plywood furniture frames. Each machine was shown performing specific tasks. Their capabilities were clearly illustrated.

Advanced manufacturing processes were demonstrated on the CH-Series platform. Steel cutting operations were carried out. Friction stir welding was also presented. These demonstrations highlighted the company’s ability to support complex industrial applications. Several additional CNC techniques were also introduced. Each process was explained in detail.

The event was supported by a recent expansion of the company’s facilities. An 83,000-square-foot building had been added to the campus the previous year. This expansion allowed more visitors to be accommodated. Larger demonstrations could be conducted. The additional space improved overall event capacity. Future growth is expected.

Thomas Tuck, Senior Manager of Regional Sales and Marketing Initiatives, emphasized the importance of hosting such events. He noted that opportunities for manufacturers to connect are essential. Industry collaboration was encouraged. The exchange of ideas was supported. The expanded facility plays a key role in enabling these interactions.

A guided factory tour was also included in the event program. Attendees were given a closer look at the company’s production processes. Equipment manufacturing was observed firsthand. Operational workflows were demonstrated. This provided valuable insights into how CNC machinery is produced.

A notable feature of the event was the demonstration of the Inverted Router. This innovation holds historical significance for the company. It was originally developed by Charlie Onsrud and marked the beginning of the company’s journey in manufacturing. The demonstration connected past innovation with present-day technology.

During the event, Tom Onsrud reflected on the company’s 50-year history. He highlighted its evolution from producing small pin routers to developing advanced CNC machines. Today, machine sizes range from compact 2-foot by 2-foot systems to large-scale configurations exceeding 20 feet by 100 feet. This growth underscores the company’s long-term commitment to innovation.

C.R. Onsrud continues to specialize in CNC machining centers, routers, mills, and its proprietary Inverted Router®. A full range of tooling and accessories is also offered. These solutions support a wide variety of manufacturing applications. The company remains focused on advancing CNC technology in the United States.

The 2026 Demo Day highlighted the importance of hands-on experience in understanding advanced manufacturing solutions. It demonstrated how innovation can be shared effectively across the industry. Small interactions made an impact. Ideas were exchanged. Connections were built. The event is expected to grow further in the coming years, with increased participation and expanded technology showcases.
