The production facilities of Collins Pine Co. in Klamath Falls, Oregon, that produce particleboard and engineered wood siding, had agreed to be purchased by the Swiss Krono Group. The acquisition’s terms were not made public when it was announced on May 30.

Customary regulatory clearances and closing requirements apply to the transaction. The acquisition, according to Swiss Krono, represents a strategic move for the business in North America, strengthening its position in the Western United States and enhancing its current operations in Barnwell, South Carolina.

“We view this acquisition as a strategic step to strengthen our position in the North American market. The Klamath Falls site fits well with our existing operations and will allow us to expand our presence in the Western U.S.,” noted Peter Wijnbergen, CEO of Swiss Krono Group. He continued, “As we move forward together, our primary goal is to continue and grow the Klamath Falls business in partnership with the people who know it best — its employees, management, customers, and suppliers.”

The decision to sell the Klamath Falls facilities, according to a statement from Collins, complements the company’s strategic focus on managing timberlands and producing hardwood and softwood lumber. Tom Insko, CEO of Collins, commented, “This decision was made with the best long-term interests of our employees and stakeholders in mind. Swiss Krono shares our values and vision for the future, and we are confident that this transition will open new doors for growth and sustained success for the Klamath Falls team.” Other Collins business units are not affected by the transaction.
