HSD’s solutions showcased its finest at AWFS Fair

 Monday, August 7, 2023

From 25th to 28th July, HSD showcased its best at AWFS Fair in Las Vegas. The trade show is a unique opportunity to take a closer look at HSD product range developed for wood processing applications. The biennial event in Las Vegas (NE) is the largest and most comprehensive woodworking event in North America as it brings together the latest innovations and trends in the industry over four days of exhibitions, conferences and networking.

Its product range entails the Wi-Fi ES951 range of electrospindles designed to equip 3-axis machining centres and robotic applications and offer the possibility of choosing from a wide range of motorisation options. Customers can configure their electrospindle with three[1]phase asynchronous motors and power ratings from 6.5kW to 25kW, and select compressed air, electric fan or liquid cooling systems. The entire ES951 range allows interaction with the machine via a selection of IoLink, Ethercat or Canopen fieldbuses, and offers a version with an HSD-produced MEMS accelerometer and a thermal probe to monitor the temperature of the front bearings among other options.

The myHSD platform was specifically developed with the aim of “providing our customers with a wide range of services and benefits, such as reducing maintenance costs, analyzing data in real time and converting it into useful information, improving customer knowledge of electrospindle use, and providing useful information for research and development, improving processes and optimising maintenance through timely notifications and troubleshooting wizards,” Fabrizio Pierini, HSD General Manager.

The trade show was also an opportunity to discover the SM137 ETHERCAT servomotor.

The SM137 servomotor is part of HSD’s Smart Motors range, the result of a design in which mechanical and electronic expertise converge. HSD Smart Motors are equipped with brushless technology and integrate: a Motion Controller, an encoder, a planetary gearbox and various options for interfacing with the ETHERCAT and PROFINET fieldbuses, ensuring excellent communication and allowing the basic controls, supervisory systems and management computers to act together, efficiently and quickly.

“So, there are no limits to the machining and production of elements of any kind, such as windows, doors, staircases, tops, furniture elements and more. The continuous rotation of the B and C axes of the 5-axis milling unit, enabled by technologically advanced electrospindles, and the continuous interpolation of the C-axis allow for the machining of even the most demanding workpieces and guarantee maximum machining speed and the quality of the finished product,” states Alessandro Parrucci Commercial & Markets Director.
