IWF 2024 Silent Auction to support Woodwork Career Alliance

Woodworking professionals and supporters of skilled trades are invited to participate in the IWF 2024 Silent Auction, a fun and charitable event aimed at raising funds for the Woodwork Career Alliance (WCA). The WCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing the next generation of woodworkers.

Auction Details– The online auction features over 100 items and experiences available for bidding. It kicks off at noon ET on Monday, July 29, and concludes at 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 8. Items can be viewed online and during show hours on the first three days of the International Woodworking Fair (IWF), August 6-8, at the IWF Silent Auction display located in the A10200 aisle.

Featured Auction Items Bidders have the opportunity to vie for incredible items such as:

Supporting the WCA– This special fundraising event is presented through the collaboration of Expo Auctions and IWF, North America’s largest industrial woodworking event. The show is owned by the Wood Machinery Association (WIA). Expo Auctions’ mobile bidding platform allows participants to bid from anywhere in the world using their smartphones. Even those unable to attend the show can support the cause by bidding online.

Statement from WCA President– “Generous support from events like IWF helps us create new programs that benefit woodworking education and industry professionals,” says WCA President Scott Nelson. “We aim to showcase the industry’s potential and create a clear career path for those interested in woodworking.”

The Woodwork Career Alliance of North America was founded in 2007 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and is governed by a volunteer board of directors. The WCA’s mission is to develop and administer a unified set of Skill Standards for the wood products industry. Since 2011, WCA has developed observable and measurable performance standards and assessments for more than 240 woodworking machine operations. In addition, WCA has issued over 6,000 Passport credentials, a portable, personal permanent record documenting each holder’s record of woodworking skill achievements. More than 140 high schools and post-secondary schools throughout North America are WCA EDUcation™ members and a growing number of woodworking companies have joined the WCA as MANufacturing™ members.
