KFI Studios, a U.S.-based manufacturer known for durable and design-forward contract furniture, has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of the Silva Collection, a new line of solid wood seating and tables that represents a milestone for the company. Designed in collaboration with New York City–based Union Design, Silva is KFI Studios’ first fully wood furniture collection, signaling a strategic move into a category experiencing renewed interest across commercial interiors.

Positioned at the intersection of craftsmanship and contemporary design, the Silva Collection reflects growing demand within the wood furniture industry for authentic materials, tactile finishes, and furniture that brings warmth to shared spaces. According to KFI Studios, the collection was created to balance timeless woodworking traditions with modern forms that feel inviting and versatile across a range of environments.

For decades, KFI Studios has built a reputation as a trusted supplier of contract furniture for offices, education, healthcare, and hospitality settings. The introduction of an all-wood line marks a significant evolution for the company, aligning with broader industry trends favoring natural materials and sustainable design principles.

“We’re really excited about Silva,” said Chris Smith, Chief Executive Officer of KFI Studios. “It’s our first full wood collection and something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. It’s got that natural warmth and character that makes spaces feel instantly inviting.”

By launching Silva, KFI Studios is responding to designers and specifiers who are increasingly seeking wood furniture solutions that combine durability with a softer, more residential aesthetic—particularly in hybrid workplaces and hospitality-inspired office spaces.

The Silva Collection was designed by Union Design, a studio led by founder Jeff Theesfeld and known for its human-centered approach to modern furniture. Union Design worked closely with KFI Studios to develop forms that celebrate the inherent qualities of wood while meeting the performance expectations of commercial environments.

“Silva is designed to celebrate the beauty of wood while creating forms that feel approachable and natural,” said Theesfeld. “Every curve, edge, and contour was carefully considered to highlight the material, create comfort, and offer a sense of simplicity.”

Crafted from solid beech wood, the collection emphasizes the material’s fine grain and strength. Beech is widely valued in furniture manufacturing for its durability, consistency, and ability to be shaped through advanced woodworking techniques. In the Silva Collection, these qualities are showcased through soft, rounded forms and a subtle satin finish that enhances the wood’s natural character without overpowering it.

One of the defining features of the Silva seating line is its steam-bent rear legs, which create a continuous, flowing line from the floor to the backrest. This design element not only adds visual elegance but also demonstrates the technical craftsmanship involved in shaping solid wood components for modern furniture applications.

The lounge chair within the collection pushes the boundaries of wood bending even further, featuring a graceful arch that blends structural integrity with refined aesthetics. Across the line, gently rounded seat edges and softly contoured backrests are designed to support comfort while maintaining a clean, uncluttered profile.

Complementing the seating pieces, Silva tables feature subtly shaped square tops that echo the collection’s softened geometry. These details allow the natural grain of the beech wood to remain a focal point, reinforcing the collection’s connection to material authenticity.

The Silva Collection includes guest chairs, lounge chairs, stools, and coordinating tables, available in multiple heights. This breadth makes the line suitable for a wide range of applications, from workplace collaboration areas and reception spaces to cafés, hotels, and lounges.

Chairs can be specified with either wood seats or upholstered seat pads, providing flexibility for different comfort and aesthetic requirements. Upholstery options include a curated selection of graded-in textiles as well as COM (Customer’s Own Material), giving designers freedom to tailor the furniture to specific project needs.

The collection is offered in seven wood stain finishes—Natural, Timber, Coffee, Black, Navy, Evergreen, and Clay—allowing Silva to adapt to both neutral palettes and more expressive interior concepts.

The launch of Silva comes at a time when the wood furniture industry is seeing renewed appreciation for solid wood craftsmanship, particularly in commercial settings traditionally dominated by metal and plastic materials. Designers are increasingly using wood furniture to soften interiors, improve occupant experience, and reflect values of longevity and material honesty.

By combining traditional woodworking techniques with modern manufacturing standards, KFI Studios positions Silva as a collection that meets both aesthetic and performance expectations. Its durability, flexibility, and refined design make it well-suited for high-traffic environments without sacrificing warmth or visual appeal.

With its emphasis on thoughtful design, material integrity, and approachable form, the Silva Collection represents more than just a new product launch—it reflects KFI Studios’ evolving design philosophy. The collection brings together the expertise of a seasoned contract furniture manufacturer and a design studio deeply rooted in human-centric design.

As workplaces, hospitality venues, and shared environments continue to evolve, furniture collections like Silva demonstrate how solid wood can play a central role in creating spaces that feel comfortable, enduring, and timeless. Through Silva, KFI Studios delivers a wood furniture solution that honors tradition while embracing the needs of contemporary interiors.
