When Laminate Technologies, commonly referred to as LamTech, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2025, there will be significant news. With the implementation of an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), it is becoming an employee-owned business. “Fostering deeper commitment from our sales, manufacturing, purchasing, administrative, and logistics teams,” commented Mario Serra, sales manager. “This shift reinforces our commitment to quality, service, and innovation, as every team member has a vested interest in our success.”

Laminate Technologies, a one-stop shop for customizing laminated panels, a variety of substrates, customized hardwood plywood panels, and manufactured components, was established in Tiffin, Ohio, in 1985. Laminate Technologies can better service its customers because of its more than 400,000 square feet of manufacturing and storage space in Tiffin, Ohio; Waco, Texas; Martinsville, Virginia; and Gallatin, Tennessee. The business claimed that with this capability, it is “built to handle projects of any size—big or small. Whether you need a single custom order or large-scale production, we deliver on time, every time.”

Not only has physical space increased its capacity to satisfy the needs of its clients, but those facilities’ capabilities have also been continuously improved. A new automated hardwood plywood press line, for example, was erected in 2021 at the company’s Martinsville facility, which it had founded. With the $4 million investment, it was able to boost production and capacity to better serve its East Coast clientele. Today, hardwood plywood panel manufacturing is the facility’s area of expertise in Virginia. A major factor in its increasing success has been expanding its product line. From its beginnings in lamination to a wide range of goods, including manufactured components and specialized hardwood plywood, it has gradually increased the scope of its product line to satisfy a variety of client demands.

Medium-density fiberboard, particleboard, Lam Grade plywood, primed plywood, UV plywood, veneer panels and platforms, laminated panel goods, specialty hardwood plywood, and manufactured components are examples of substrates and further product alternatives. Panels can be laminated on one or both sides, and they range in length from 5 to 16 feet and in width from 4 to 5 feet. Products come with cork, feel, polyester laminates, metalized moisture barrier films, premium vinyls, 2 to 30 mil, and decorative top-coated papers weighing 23 to 120 grams.

The company can provide panel solutions and components that are specifically built and designed to match customer specifications, thanks to its bespoke manufacturing capabilities. “Whether your need is for laminated panels using custom printed decorative overlays, panels produced in our hardwood plywood operation, or even imported products, which meet stringent ‘Green’ standards,” the company says.

The company performs a variety of fabrication tasks in addition to lamination, such as cutting panels to size, drilling, CNC routing, tenoning, contour and straight line edge banding, T-molding, toe notching, V-grooving/miter folding, slatwall, and private label packaging. According to Serra, the company is “strategically positioned” with its production capabilities and manufacturing facilities to efficiently deliver its wide range of imported products, specialty hardwood plywood panels, custom one- or two-sided laminated products, and fabricated components to its clientele nationwide.
