Pioneer Millworks, a company based in Rochester that produces reclaimed and sustainable wood siding, paneling, and flooring, has introduced two new thermally modified products: ABODO Vulcan decking and ABODO Vulcan siding. “Thermally modified wood is a spectacular material that is gaining traction and trending in design,” noted Pioneer Millworks sales manager Jered Slusser.

According to the firm, their ABODO Vulcan modified wood is stable, exquisite, and sustainable. Its long-lasting, climate-conscious design and unique color palette will complement almost any style. Their ABODO Vulcan cladding and decking are made from FSC-certified Radiata Pine that is sustainably obtained from forests in New Zealand that are managed responsibly. It is designed for durability, aesthetics, and the environment. Pressure-treated lumber, cement board, and vinyl siding may all be replaced with ABODO, which is 100% recyclable and renewable and has a steady supply chain. The wood has improved stability and long-term viability due to the lower resin content that comes from the thermal modification process, which is backed by a 15-year warranty.

Both indoor and outdoor applications can use ABODO since it is free of plastics, fungicides, insects, and chemicals on the Red List. In addition, the technique of thermal alteration gives it additional insect and water resistance and enables it to store more carbon than is consumed during production. The meticulous testing procedures that take place in both lab and long-term field trials are what set ABODO Vulcan apart from many other thermally modified items available on the market, the business stated.

The managing director of ABODO, Daniel Gudsell confirmed, “the only way to prove that a modified wood is durable is to do a field test, which involves putting wood out in an accelerated decay zone and trying to create an environment where it will decay very quickly, and you can have comparable samples.” “Class 1 durability is the highest form of durability based on lab testing. We have done these tests, and ABODO has Class 1 durability. You must have a field test to support that. A lab test gives you an indication, and a field test gives you concrete proof,” assures Gudsell.

The firm’s thermally modified siding offers unparalleled weatherability and durability. It may be used for any architectural purpose, whether it be vertical, horizontal, commercial, or residential, and comes in a wide range of patented finishes and profiles. Sustainability, aesthetics, and innovative design are all met with ABODO Vulcan thermally modified decking and siding, which is safe for indoor usage and durable enough for outdoor installation.
