President and CEO of AWC enlightens on Formaldehyde Standards

 Friday, July 29, 2016

awcAmerican Wood Council (AWC) President and CEO Robert Glowinski issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalizing regulations for the Formaldehyde Standards for Composite Wood Products Act. The legislation passed in 2010 and was supported by AWC.

“We supported the legislation as consistent with good product stewardship and our industry’s commitment to the safety of our products. Implementing this rule essentially extends California’s regulations nationwide, with which our members have already been complying, creating a consistent system on how we regulate formaldehyde emissions for composite wood products manufactured in and imported to the United States.

“Formaldehyde is one of the most comprehensively studied and regulated chemicals in the world. This rule will help Americans feel confident that all composite wood products manufactured in the United States meet the same safe formaldehyde emissions standards.” He added further.
