Roseburg explores potential new MDF plant or bioenergy facility in west

 Wednesday, June 15, 2022

Roseburg is exploring the feasibility of locating a second MDF panel plant or bioenergy production facility within its current Western operating footprint. The proposed facility would use up to 300,000 bone-dry tons of wood residuals each year. This fiber would be sourced from current company operations and from important existing long-term suppliers. The feasibility study will take place over the next several months, with a decision anticipated by the end of the year.

In the West, Roseburg owns more than 400,000 acres of timberland in Oregon and operates several wood products facilities in Oregon and Northern California, including an existing MDF plant in Medford, Ore. The company also owns and operates one of the world’s largest wood chip exporting operations in Coos Bay, Ore.

Founded in 1936, Roseburg Forest Products is a privately-owned company and one of North America’s leading producers of particleboard, medium density fiberboard and thermally fused laminates.
