Following the successful release of The Raw Essentials color collection for furniture decors at IWF in Atlanta last August, Schattdecor Inc. Designer, Mark Smith, got to work very quickly translating those colors into laminate flooring décor colors.New flooring developments and for laminate flooring took the center stage at Surfaces 2015.
The sales team from Schattdecor Inc. invited flooring customers from North America to a hospitality suite at Mandalay Bay during the Surfaces trade show in late January. 37 brand new flooring decors were introduced to visitors, most of them still in the very early stages of development. Customers were surveyed and the majority of the new developments were met with high praise. Canyon Shabby Teak, Canyon Aruba Spruce, and Canyon Reclaimed Cypress were among the favorites. Mark Smith, Sr.Design Manager at Schattdecor Inc. remar“In North America, people are embracing the WabiSabi or Refined Rustic design trend. They are looking for flooring decors that are considered imperfectbecause they are being shown “as is,” or decors that are also slightly weathered or recycled in appearance. These characteristics provide the basis for designs “Aged to Perfection,” particularly when paired with The Raw Essentialscolor collection.”
Mark Smith utilized The Raw Essentials collection to do color work on the new laminate flooring décor developments. This latest collection has been inspired by natural elements such as grains and rice, succulents, as well as stones and even bird eggs. And when purchasing the majority of the wood for Surfaces he took into consideration the idea of WabiSabi, or having things that appear to be “Aged to Perfection.”
