ShopBot Tools, a leader in digital fabrication technology, has announced the launch of “The ABCs of ShopBot CNC,” an engaging new video series developed in partnership with educator, content creator, and seasoned ShopBot owner, John Kuiphoff. The innovative project introduces viewers to CNC machining through 26 captivating, alphabetically-themed projects, each demonstrating unique digital fabrication techniques.
The series consists of concise, one-minute videos, creatively showcasing CNC machining in a range of materials including wood, plastics, aluminum, and soapstone. It highlights various tools and techniques such as advanced joinery, detailed 3D carving, intricate inlays, and innovative finishing methods, emphasizing the extensive capabilities of ShopBot CNC machines.
“The ABCs of ShopBot CNC” was designed to push the creative limits of digital fabrication, according to Kuiphoff. “Each video had to be educational, visually compelling, and exactly one minute long—this was the real challenge. Working with ShopBot provided me the resources and support to explore ideas I had never attempted before,” he explained.
Kuiphoff utilized his ShopBot Desktop MAX 36”x24” CNC machine, renowned for its compact size and professional-grade precision, ideal for complex, detailed projects. The final episode of the series features a notable collaboration with acclaimed maker and content creator Jimmy Diresta. Together, Kuiphoff and Diresta created a Z-shaped bench from composite decking using Diresta’s powerful ShopBot PRSalpha 96”x48” machine, demonstrating high-precision CNC joinery and accuracy.
The full series, including all 26 individual projects and a comprehensive long-form compilation video, is now available on the ShopBot YouTube channel. Viewers can also access an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview featuring Kuiphoff, who shares insights into his creative process, tool usage, and personal project highlights.
