Tigercat Industries prepares to launch LX825 track carrier prototype to support fire mitigation and forest management in the Western US

Tigercat Industries is preparing to introduce a new addition to its forestry machinery lineup as it responds to increasing demand for fire mitigation and active forest management across the western United States. The company will debut the LX825 track carrier prototype in February 2026 at the Sierra-Cascade Logging Conference in Anderson, California, a key event for forestry professionals operating in fire-prone landscapes.

The LX825 has been developed to meet the evolving needs of forest management contractors working on fuel reduction, vegetation control, and selective harvesting projects. As wildfire risk continues to drive large-scale forest treatment programmes across the region, demand has grown for machines that combine agility, versatility, and precision in challenging terrain.

Built on the same upper platform as Tigercat’s flagship LX830E feller buncher, the LX825 is designed as a lighter, faster, and more manoeuvrable carrier. Its near-zero tail swing configuration improves performance in dense stands and confined working areas, while a newly engineered leveling undercarriage enhances stability on uneven ground commonly found in western forest environments.

A key feature of the LX825 is its flexible hydraulic configuration. Contractors can choose between a standard feller buncher hydraulic system or an optional convertible hydraulic system. The convertible option allows operators to switch between a range of attachments, including disc saws, intermittent saws, bar saws, shears, and mulching heads. This adaptability enables a single machine to perform multiple tasks, from thinning and felling merchantable timber to masticating brush, understory vegetation, and non-commercial trees.

This multi-function capability is particularly valuable for fire mitigation projects, where reducing fuel loads while maintaining forest health is a priority. The LX825’s compact footprint, combined with its speed and precise control, allows operators to carry out targeted thinning and mulching treatments with minimal disturbance to surrounding trees, supporting long-term forest resiliency.

Complementing the carrier is Tigercat’s new TCi 4154-15 mulching head, which has been specifically matched to the LX825 platform. The mulcher has been designed with serviceability in mind, offering easy access to wear components and maintenance points. Its inlet and mulching chamber geometry are engineered to draw in material efficiently and fully process debris before discharge, delivering consistent, high-quality mulching results.

For work in tight stands, the mulching head features a wrist with 130 degrees of side-to-side pivot, providing enhanced dexterity during in-stand treatments. A pin-on rake further improves productivity by assisting with brush and debris management.

With the LX825, Tigercat is positioning itself to support the next phase of forestry operations in the western US, where versatile, purpose-built machinery is increasingly essential for balancing wildfire risk reduction with sustainable forest management.
