UPM has achieved a prestigious platinum rating from EcoVadis, placing it among the top 1% of the 130,000 global companies assessed for sustainability performance. This recognition highlights UPM’s strong commitment to sustainability across four key categories: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The company scored an impressive 81 out of 100 in the Manufacture of Pulp, Paper, and Paperboard industry.
Sami Lundgren, Vice President of Responsibility at UPM, emphasized the importance of the feedback received from EcoVadis. “The feedback on our strengths and areas for improvement is invaluable, driving our continuous efforts to enhance sustainability performance,” Lundgren stated.
He also noted UPM’s strong performance in the areas of labour and human rights, underscoring the company’s dedication to health and safety, gender pay equity, living wages, and diversity and inclusion. “Our top rating reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability throughout the value chain. Our comprehensive sustainable supply chain programme not only ensures compliance and risk mitigation but also helps us achieve our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets,” Lundgren added.
EcoVadis, a globally recognized sustainability rating platform, assesses the performance of companies operating in over 220 purchasing categories across more than 180 countries. The platinum rating awarded to UPM is based on a rigorous evaluation of the company’s sustainability initiatives, including verified public information on supply chain practices.
