Välinge Innovation’s Woodura® surface technology is honored in the international category of GreenStep Environmental awards.

Floor Covering Weekly (FCW) is a well-known publication in the flooring industry and their annual GreenStep award is globally recognized as one of the most influential sustainability awards in the industry. It honors organizations and individuals in the flooring industry for their stewardship, initiatives and accomplishments in the area of sustainability.
This year – Swedish company Välinge Innovation is named honoree in the international award category because of their innovative Woodura surface technology. This is a groundbreaking way to produce a real wood floor that allows up to 10 times more flooring to be generated from each tree, it uses recycled material and can be produced with zero waste. The raw material is sourced from responsibly managed forests and the wood is processed locally – all to secure a process that is as sustainable as possible to ensure that the forest will be there to enjoy for generations to come.
The technology uses a unique wood powder mix to create a highly durable surface that lasts longer and does not need to be refinished. The result is flooring that withstands the wear and tear of everyday life and has a much longer lifetime than a traditional real wood floor. Välinge Flooring’s Hardened Wood collection and Mannington’s TimberPlus® are two great examples of how the technology is used to create natural and sustainable flooring with sensational benefits.
