WMS 2025

Canada’s premier showcase for the industrial woodworking sector, the Woodworking Machinery & Supply Conference and Expo (WMS 2025), is set to open on Wednesday, November 12th, marking a significant milestone with its debut at the Toronto Congress Center. This new venue, strategically located near Pearson International Airport, offers expanded space and modern amenities, promising an enhanced experience for woodworking professionals from across Canada and the global industry.

Scheduled to run for three days, from November 12th to 14th, WMS 2025 is more than just a trade show; it is a critical marketplace for machinery, technology, and materials that will define the next generation of productivity and profitability in the North American market. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience firsthand demonstrations of advanced and classical woodworking equipment, from high-precision CNC machinery and solid wood processing lines to cutting-edge CAD/CAM and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software solutions. The expo hall will be a hub for discovering the latest trends in cabinet and furniture hardware, specialized decorative surfaces, and components manufactured worldwide.

The free WMS live stage

Complementing the world-class machinery exhibits is a robust and entirely free three-day conference hosted on the WMS Live Stage directly on the expo hall floor. This commitment to accessible, high-value education is a cornerstone of the WMS event, providing essential insights into best practices, design trends, and the future of manufacturing.

A key partner in curating this educational content is the Wood Manufacturing Cluster of Ontario (WMCO), which is collaboratively presenting four of the most timely sessions. The conference is structured with an opening keynote address each day, setting an inspirational and strategic tone, followed by targeted presentations designed to impact business operations immediately.

New programs and professional development

WMS 2025 is introducing significant additions to its educational line-up to broaden its appeal and professional impact, particularly within the architectural and design community.

A new trio of sessions has been specifically developed to allow members of the architect and design (A&D) community to earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs). These sessions focus on critical material science and sustainable practices:

TFL: Exceptional Design, Durability and Sustainability (Sponsored by Uniboard Canada): Exploring the high-value use of Thermally Fused Laminates.

Plywood, Seriously? (Sponsored by Columbia Forest Products): A deep dive into modern plywood technology and its applications.

Practical Circularity: Recycled Wood Decorative Panels (Sponsored by Tafisa Canada): Discussing the coming-of-age of recycled wood and sustainable panel products.

Another specialized offering is the comprehensive Veneer Grading Seminar, sponsored by Columbia Forest Products and Veneer Technologies. This intensive half-day course—repeated on both Wednesday and Thursday—provides design specifiers, plant superintendents, and sales professionals with the essential knowledge to evaluate veneer grades and make confident, informed material selections.

Two popular features that debuted successfully at WMS 2023 are returning to the Toronto Congress Center:

WMS Live Auction: Back by popular demand, this event, sponsored by Boss Auctions, offers attendees the chance to bid on various woodworking equipment, materials, and supplies, creating an exciting, competitive buying opportunity.

Student Day: This special feature on the final day, Friday, November 14th, highlights a dedicated panel discussion on “Exploring Career Pathways in Today’s Woodworking Industry.” This initiative, backed by the Wood Manufacturing Council and the Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association, aims to connect high school and post-secondary students directly with industry leaders to showcase the cutting-edge technology, software, and career opportunities available in modern wood manufacturing.

The move to the Toronto Congress Centre, coupled with an ambitious program that tackles everything from Lean manufacturing and government funding to cybersecurity and decorative panel trends, positions WMS 2025 as the essential meeting point for the Canadian woodworking industry to invest in technology, network, and plan for future growth and profitability.
